    Abstract:

    The therapeutic potential of cannabinoids has been truly constrained heretofore due to their strong psychoactive effects and their high lipophilicity. In this context, precisely due to the lack of psychoactive properties, cannabidiol (CBD), the second major component of Cannabis sativa, arises as the phytocannabinoid with the most auspicious therapeutic potential. Hence, the incorporation of CBD in lipid nanocapsules (LNCs) will contribute to overcome the dosing problems associated with cannabinoids. Herein, we have prepared LNCs decorated and loaded with CBD for glioma therapy and screened in vitro their critical parameters. On the one hand, we have encapsulated CBD into the oily core of LNCs to test their in vitro efficacy as extended-release carriers against the human glioblastoma cell line U373MG. The in vitro antitumor effect was highly dependent on the size of LNCs due to its pivotal role in the extent of CBD release. Effectively, a comparison between two differently-sized LNCs (namely, 20-nm and 50-nm sized carriers) showed that the smaller LNCs reduced by 3.0-fold the ICvalue of their 50-nm sized counterparts. On the other hand, to explore the potential of this phytocannabinoid to target any of the cannabinoid receptors overexpressed in glioma cells, we decorated the LNCs with CBD. This functionalization strategy enhanced the in vitro glioma targeting by 3.4-fold in comparison with their equally-sized undecorated counterparts. Lastly, the combination of CBD-loading with CBD-functionalization further reduced the ICvalues. Hence, the potential of these two strategies of CBD incorporation into LNCs deserves subsequent in vivo evaluation.

    Abstract:

    PURPOSE:There is a large body of evidence supporting the efficacy of low-level laser therapy (LLLT), more recently termed photobiomodulation (PBM) for the management of oral mucositis (OM) in patients undergoing radiotherapy for head and neck cancer (HNC). Recent advances in PBM technology, together with a better understanding of mechanisms involved and dosimetric parameters may lead to the management of a broader range of complications associated with HNC treatment. This could enhance patient adherence to cancer therapy, and improve quality of life and treatment outcomes. The mechanisms of action, dosimetric, and safety considerations for PBM have been reviewed in part 1. Part 2 discusses the head and neck treatment side effects for which PBM may prove to be effective. In addition, PBM parameters for each of these complications are suggested and future research directions are discussed.

    METHODS:Narrative review and presentation of PBM parameters are based on current evidence and expert opinion.

    RESULTS:PBM may have potential applications in the management of a broad range of side effects of (chemo)radiation therapy (CRT) in patients being treated for HNC. For OM management, optimal PBM parameters identified were as follows: wavelength, typically between 633 and 685 nm or 780-830 nm; energy density, laser or light-emitting diode (LED) output between 10 and 150 mW; dose, 2-3 J (J/cm(2)), and no more than 6 J/cm(2) on the tissue surface treated; treatment schedule, two to three times a week up to daily; emission type, pulsed (<100 Hz); and route of delivery, intraorally and/or transcutaneously. To facilitate further studies, we propose potentially effective PBM parameters for prophylactic and therapeutic use in supportive care for dermatitis, dysphagia, dry mouth, dysgeusia, trismus, necrosis, lymphedema, and voice/speech alterations.

    CONCLUSION:PBM may have a role in supportive care for a broad range of complications associated with the treatment of HNC with CRT. The suggested PBM irradiation and dosimetric parameters, which are potentially effective for these complications, are intended to provide guidance for well-designed future studies. It is imperative that such studies include elucidating the effects of PBM on oncology treatment outcomes.

    Poria cocos is an edible medicinal fungus known as"Fuling"in Chinese and has been used as a Chinese traditional medicine for more than two thousand years. Pharmacological studies reveal that polysaccharide is the most abundant substance in Poria cocos and has a wide range of biological activities including antitumour, immunomodulation, anti-inflammation, antioxidation, anti-ageing, antihepatitis, antidiabetics and anti-haemorrhagic fever effects. As a result,"Poria cocos polysaccharide oral solution"was developed and sold as an over-the-counter health supplement since 1970s. In 2015,"Polysaccharidum of Poria cocos oral solution"was approved as a drug by Chinese Food and Drug Administration for treating multiple types of cancers, hepatitis and other diseases alone or during chemo- or radiation therapy for patients with cancer. In this article, biochemical, preclinical and clinical studies of Poria cocos polysaccharide from 72 independent studies during the past 46 years (1970-2016) based on PubMed, VIP (Chongqing VIP Chinese Scientific Journals Database), CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure) and Wanfang database searches are summarized. The structure, pharmacological effects, clinical efficacy, immunobalancing molecular mechanism and toxicity of Poria cocos polysaccharide are deliberated to provide a general picture of Poria cocos polysaccharide as a clinically used antitumour drug.

    The Warburg effect and tumor hypoxia underlie a unique cancer metabolic phenotype characterized by glucose dependency and aerobic fermentation. We previously showed that two non-toxic metabolic therapies - the ketogenic diet with concurrent hyperbaric oxygen (KD+HBOT) and dietary ketone supplementation - could increase survival time in the VM-M3 mouse model of metastatic cancer. We hypothesized that combining these therapies could provide an even greater therapeutic benefit in this model. Mice receiving the combination therapy demonstrated a marked reduction in tumor growth rate and metastatic spread, and lived twice as long as control animals. To further understand the effects of these metabolic therapies, we characterized the effects of high glucose (control), low glucose (LG), ketone supplementation (βHB), hyperbaric oxygen (HBOT), or combination therapy (LG+βHB+HBOT) on VM-M3 cells. Individually and combined, these metabolic therapies significantly decreased VM-M3 cell proliferation and viability. HBOT, alone or in combination with LG and βHB, increased ROS production in VM-M3 cells. This study strongly supports further investigation into this metabolic therapy as a potential non-toxic treatment for late-stage metastatic cancers.

    A series of phosphorus porphyrin complexes ([(RO)2P(tpp)]Cl, tpp = tetraphenylporphyrinato group, R = -(CH2CH2O)m(CH2)nH; 1a: m = 2, n = 2; 1b: m = 2, n = 4; 1c: m = 2, n = 6; 1d: m = 3, n = 6) were used for the photodynamic therapy (PDT) of human biliary cancer cell line (NOZ) when exposed to the irradiation of light emitting diodes (LEDs). A Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium (DMEM) containing NOZ cells (2000 cell well(-1)) and 1 (0-100 nM) was introduced into a 96-well microplate and incubated for 24 h to accumulate 1 into the NOZ cells and to multiply the NOZ cells until the cell number reached 10(4) cells well(-1). After replacing the DMEM medium containing 1 with a fresh DMEM medium without 1, the plates were irradiated for 30 min at 610 nm. After incubation was performed for 24 h in dark conditions, the cell viability of the NOZ cells was determined using the MTT assay. The half maximuminhibitory concentrations 50 (IC50) of 1a-1d were found to be in the range of 33.7-58.7 nM for NOZ. These IC50 values for the NOZ were one hundredth the IC50 value (7.57 μM) for mono-l-aspartyl chlorin e6 (laserphyrin®). Thus, it was found that the PDT activity of 1a-1d was much higher than the mono-l-aspartyl chlorin e6. Similarly, IC50 vales of 1a-1d for HeLa cells were found to be 27.8-52.5 nM. This showed that 1a-1d had high photodynamic activity in cancer cells. At the same time, it was speculated that an LED is a useful light source for deactivating the cancer cells because it can excite the sensitizers with peak width in their absorption spectra using the light of the specified wave length with band width of 10-20 nm; LEDs provide a homogeneous light distribution for the target cells.

    BACKGROUND:Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) are potent suppressors of immune function and may play a key role in the development and progression of metastatic cancers. Aerobic exercise has been shown to have anticancer effects, yet the mechanisms behind this protection are largely unknown. Therefore, we examined the effects of physical activity on MDSC accumulation and function.

    METHODS:Female BALB/c mice were assigned to one of two primary groups: sedentary tumor (SED+TUM) or wheel run tumor (WR+TUM). After 6 weeks of voluntary wheel running, all animals were randomly subdivided into 4 different timepoint groups; 16, 20, 24, and 28 days post-tumor injection. All mice were inoculated with 4T1 mammary carcinoma cells in the mammary fat pad and WR groups continued to run for the specified time post-injection. Spleen, blood, and tumor samples were analyzed using flow cytometry to assess proportions of MDSCs.

    RESULTS:Cells expressing MDSC biomarkers were detected in the spleen, blood, and tumor beginning at d16. However, since there was no evidence of immunosuppressive function until d28, we refer to them as immature myeloid cells (IMCs). Compared to SED+TUM, levels of IMCs in the spleen were significantly lower (p<0.05) in WR+TUM at day 16 (33.0± 5.2%; 23.1 ± 10.2% of total cells, respectively) and day 20 (33.9 ± 8.1%; 24.3 ± 5.1% of total cells, respectively). Additionally, there were fewer circulating IMCs in WR+TUM at day 16 and MDSC levels were significantly lower (p<0.05) in the tumor at day 28 in WR+TUM. Additionally, a non-significant 62% and 26% reduction in metastatic lung nodules was observed at days 24 and 28, respectively. At day 28, MDSCs harvested from SED+TUM significantly suppressed CD3+CD4+ T cell proliferation (3.2± 1.3 proliferation index) while proliferation in WR+TUM MDSC co-cultures (5.1 ± 1.7 proliferation index) was not different from controls.

    CONCLUSIONS:These findings suggest that physical activity may delay the accumulation of immunosuppressive MDSCs providing a broader window of opportunity for interventions with immunotherapies.

    OBJECTIVE:To demonstrate the morphological changes in number of seminiferous tubules that are produced by anthracycline doxorubicin on the testes of mice.

    METHODS:This experimental study was conducted at Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi, from March to August 2012, and comprised male mice aged up to five weeks. The mice were separated into 3 equal groups: A, B and C. Each animal was treated with normal saline 1ml intraperitoneal in group A, doxorubicin alone in group B and doxorubicin + vitamin C in group C. At the end of the study, animals were sacrificed and the testes were kept in Bouin's fluid and tissue processing and staining were done. SPSS 16 was used for data analysis.

    RESULTS:Of the 30 mice, there were 10(33.3%) in each group. The overall mean age was 5±1 weeks. The mean number of tubules was 20.28±3.29 in group A, 9.39±3.01 in group B and 18.56±2.82 in group C. The mean diameter of seminiferous tubules of testes was 218.26 ± 7.45µm in group A, 123.96±11.84 in group B and 180.86±12.13 in group C (p<0.001). Co-administration of vitamin C with doxorubicin significantly reduced (p<0.001) the seminiferous epithelial damage compared to doxorubicin group.

    CONCLUSIONS:The antioxidant vitamin C had a significant role in ameliorating the damage of testes induced by doxorubicin.

    Well-differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) is the most common endocrine malignancy that has an excellent prognosis with a 5-year survival rate of about 98%. However, approximately 50% of the patients with DTC who present with distant metastases (advanced DTC) die from the disease within 5 years of initial diagnosis even after getting the appropriate therapy. Apart from recent advancements in chemotherapy agents, the potential role of metabolic interventions, including the use of metformin, ketogenic diet, and high-dose vitamin C in the management of advanced cancers have been investigated as a less toxic co-adjuvant therapies. The role of vitamin C has been of interest again after a preclinical mice study showed that high-dose vitamin C is selectively lethal to KRAS and BRAF mutant colorectal cancer cells by targeting the glutathione pathway. This raises the possibility of utilizing high-doses of vitamin C in the treatment of aDTC where KRAS and BRAF mutations are common. Similarly, alteration of cellular metabolism by low-carbohydrate ketogenic diets can be an important therapeutic strategy to selectively kill cancer cells that mainly survive on glycolysis. Among thepotential adjuvant therapies proposed in this paper, metformin is the only agent that has shown benefit in human model of aDTC, the others have shown benefit but in preclinical/animal studies only and need to be further evaluated in large clinical trials. In conclusion, in addition to concurrent chemotherapy options, these metabolic interventions may have a great potential as co-adjuvant therapy in the management of aDTC.

    A ketogenic diet is expected to be an effective support therapy for patients with cancer, but the degree and duration of carbohydrate restriction are unclear. We performed a case series study of a new ketogenic diet regimen in patients with different types of stage IV cancer. Carbohydrates were restricted to 10 g/day during week one, 20 g/day from week two for three months, and 30 g/day thereafter. A total of 55 patients participated in the study, and data from 37 patients administered the ketogenic diet for three months were analyzed. No severe adverse events associated with the diet were observed. Total ketone bodies increased significantly, and both fasting blood sugar and insulin levels were suppressed significantly for three months after completion of the study. Five patients showed a partial response on Positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) at three months. Three and seven patients showed complete and partial responses, respectively at one year. Median survival was 32.2 (maximum: 80.1) months, and the three-year survival rate was 44.5%. After three months on the ketogenic diet, the serum Alb, BS, and CRP (ABC) score could be used to stratify the patients into groups with significantly different survival rates (<0.001, log-rank test). Our ketogenic diet regimen is considered to be a promising support therapy for patients with different types of advanced cancer.

    A novel bioactive polysaccharide, GFP-22, was isolated from the fruit bodies of Grifola frondosa by anion-exchange and gel filtration chromatography. Structure of GFP-22 was investigated using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), methylation, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), high-performance size exclusion chromatography-multi-angle laser light scattering-refractive index detector (HPSEC-MALLS-RI) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) analysis. The backbone of GFP-22 is composed of 1,4-β-d-Glcp, 1,3-β-d-Glcp, 1,6-α-d-Glcp, 1,6-α-d-Galp, 1,4,6-α-d-Manp and 1,3,6-α-d-Manp units. Molecular weight of GFP-22 is 2.72 × 104 Da. GFP-22 has a linear filamentous structure. The administration of GFP-22 could improve or reverse the CTX-induced immunosuppression, significantly enhance the spleen and thymus indices, spleen lymphocyte proliferation and cytokines production in splenocytes. These findings suggest that GFP-22 could be explored as a natural and potential immunomodulatory agent and as an alternative means of lessening chemotherapy-induced immunosuppression.

    PURPOSE OF REVIEW:Qigong and Tai Chi are two increasingly popular mind-body interventions with the potential to address the multifaceted needs of cancer survivors. The aim of this updated review and meta-analysis was to quantitatively evaluate the treatment effects of Qigong/Tai Chi on cancer survivors since 2014.

    RECENT FINDINGS:There were statistically significant and clinically meaningful effects in favor of Qigong/Tai Chi interventions for symptoms of fatigue and sleep quality. There were positive trends, but not statistically significant effects, observed for anxiety, stress, depressive symptoms, and overall quality of life (QOL). Cancer-related cognitive impairment is a common complaint among cancer survivors that has received increasing attention in this area in recent years. Qigong/Tai Chi in cancer care shows great promise with short-term effects in treating many cancer-related symptoms. Further methodologically sound trials with longer follow-up periods and more active control conditions are required, before definitive conclusions can be recommended for cancer patients.

    The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of radiotherapy (RT) using intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) boosts after hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy with chemotherapy in patients with glioblastoma. Twenty-four patients with glioblastoma were treated with the combined therapy, which was RT using IMRT boosts after HBO with chemotherapy, and were retrospectively analyzed. The RT protocol was as follows: first, 3D conformal RT [40 Gy/20 fractions (fr)] was delivered to the gross tumor volume (GTV) and the surrounding edema, including an additional 1.5-2.0 cm. The IMRT boost doses were then continuously delivered to the GTV plus 5 mm (28 Gy/8 fr) and the surrounding edema (16 Gy/8 fr). Each IMRT boost session was performed immediately after HBO to achieve radiosensitization. The planned RT dose was completed in all patients, while HBO therapy was terminated in one patient (4%) due to Grade 2 aural pain. The toxicities were mild, no non-hematological toxicity of Grade 3-5 was observed. The 2-year overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival rates in all patients were 46.5% and 35.4%, respectively. The median OS time was 22.1 months. In conclusion, the combined therapy of RT using IMRT boosts after HBO with chemotherapy was a feasible and promising treatment modality for patients with glioblastoma. The results justify further evaluation to clarify the benefits of this therapy.

    Abstract:

    Fatigue is a common, often debilitating, side effect of cancer chemotherapy. Pharmacologic vitamin C has been used as an alternative treatment for the disease itself but its effects on fatigue have not often been documented. Here we report on the case of a woman with recurrent breast cancer, undergoing weekly chemotherapy, with lethargy as a major symptom. Vitamin C (50 g/session) was administered twice weekly and quality of life and multidimensional fatigue symptomology questionnaires were undertaken. Dramatic decreases in fatigue and insomnia were observed, as well as increased cognitive functioning. There were no adverse side effects of i.v. vitamin C.

    This study evaluated the risks and benefits of repeat hepatic cryotherapy for recurrent, unresectable hepatic metastases from colorectal carcinoma. Review of a prospective database identified 195 patients who underwent hepatic cryotherapy for metastatic colorectal carcinoma during a 7-year period. Of the 14 patients who underwent successful repeat cryotherapy for recurrences confined to the liver, 86% had Duke's stage D colorectal carcinoma at initial diagnosis. The median age of the 14 patients was 58 years (range 41 to 77 years). The median number of hepatic metastases was three at the first cryotherapy and two at the second cryotherapy. At a median follow-up of 71 months, the mean survival times from original diagnosis, first cryotherapy, and second cryotherapy were 53, 42, and 19 months, respectively. At the most recent follow-up, eight patients (57%) have died of their disease, four (29%) are alive with disease, and two (14%) have no evidence of disease. The mean interval between the first and second cryotherapies was 23 months. The complication rates after the first and second cryotherapies were 7% and 14%, respectively. One patient developed a wound dehiscence after the first cryotherapy. Following the second cryotherapy, one patient had a small bowel obstruction and another had a pleural effusion. There was no perioperative mortality. Repeat cryotherapy for recurrent, unresectable hepatic metastases from colorectal cancer is safe and improves survival. However, a prospective trial is needed to validate the efficacy of systemic therapy and to better define the indications for repeat hepatic cryotherapy.

    Abstract:

    Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharides (GLPs), isolated from spores, mycelia and fruiting bodies of Ganoderma lucidum, have been suggested to possess anticancer activities in a large number of basic studies. A recent survey revealed that GLP-induced inhibition of cancer cell growth was dependent on the existence of functional p53. However, the actual role of p53-mediated tumor-suppressing pathways in facilitating the anticancer effect of GLPs is still unclear. In the present study, we investigated the interaction between GLPs and mutant p53 that exists in more than half of the known types of cancers. Ourresults showed that GLPs reactivated mutant p53 in colorectal cancer HT29 (p53R273H) and SW480 (p53R273H&P309S) cells while applied alone or together with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). This reactivation further induced cell growth inhibition and apoptosis. In addition, western blot assay and in vitro cell-free apoptosis assay suggested that the activation of mutant p53 was effective in both a transcriptional-dependent and -independent pathway. Altogether, our data demonstrated for the first time that GLPs show prominent anticancer activities by reactivating several types of mutant p53. Therefore, targeting mutant p53 by GLPs alongside other chemotherapeutics may be considered as a novel treatment strategy for cancer.

Treatment after HIFU therapy included 2 operations, 24 chemotherapy treatments, and 4 best supportive care treatments. Adverse events occurred in 10% of cases, namely pseudocyst formation in 2 cases and mild pancreatitis development in 1. However, no severe adverse events occurred in this study.

    CONCLUSION:We suggest that HIFU therapy is safe and has the potential to be a new method of combination therapy for PC.

    BACKGROUND:Chemotherapy is used mainly to treat and control the progression of gynecological cancer. Bone marrow suppression, one of the adverse side effects of chemotherapy, may decrease immune function, increasing the risk of serious, fatal infections.

    PURPOSE:The aims of this study were to evaluate the effectiveness of noninvasive acupressure in preventing and diminishing chemotherapy-induced myelosuppression in patients with gynecologic cancer and to determine whether this effect is associated with the regulation of the expressions of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor and stem cell factor (SCF).

    METHODS:In total, 28 women with gynecological cancer were randomly assigned either to the experimental group (n = 10) or to the control group (n = 18). The experimental group received acupressure of 5-minute duration to the Hegu (LI4), Quchi (LI11), Xuehai (SP10), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Taixi (K3), Zusanli (ST36), Taichong (LR3), and Baihui (GV20) points, respectively, three times per day for 6 weeks. The control group did not receive the acupressure intervention. The blood count, including white blood cells, platelets, and hemoglobin, and serum levels for SCF and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor were assessed before (pretest) and 6 weeks after (posttest) the participants' first course of chemotherapy.

    RESULTS:At posttest, blood hemoglobin had significantly decreased from (mean± SD) 11.6 ± 2.2 to 10.8 ±1.6 mg/dl (p = .03) in the control group. However, no significant pretest-posttest difference in hemoglobin concentration (11.4 ± 1.0 vs. 10.9 ± 1.1 mg/dl) was detected in the experimental group. Levels of SCF increased significantly between pretest and posttest in both the control group (from 1196.10 ± 293.17 to 1325.05 ± 253.77 ng/ml; p = .01) and the acupressure group (from 1046.78 ± 469.52 to 1387.06 ± 310.00 ng/ml; p = .007). In addition, a borderline difference (p = .05) in mean pretest-posttest SCF increase was found between the acupressure group (340.28 ± 255.46 ng/ml) and the control group (128.94 ± 250.64 ng/ml). Finally, a significant time-dependent interactive effect was found between acupressure and the increased blood level of SCF at posttest (β = 211.34, p = .02).

    CONCLUSIONS/IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE:The findings support that acupressure on specific acupoints increases blood SCF levels significantly, which may help protect chemotherapy patients from experiencing reduced hemoglobin levels and may relieve chemotherapy-induced myelosuppression in patients with gynecologic cancer. This noninvasive approach is suggested for practical implementation in patients undergoing a course of chemotherapy.

    The naturally occurring isotope of hydrogen ((1)H), deuterium ((2)H), could have an important biological role. Deuterium depleted water delays tumor progression in mice, dogs, cats and humans. Hydratase enzymes of the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle control cell growth and deplete deuterium from redox cofactors, fatty acids and DNA, which undergo hydride ion and hydrogen atom transfer reactions. A model is proposed that emphasizes the terminal complex of mitochondrial electron transport chain reducing molecular oxygen to deuterium depleted water (DDW); this affects gluconeogenesis as well as fatty acid oxidation. In the former, the DDW is thought to diminish the deuteration of sugar-phosphates in the DNA backbone, helping to preserve stability of hydrogen bond networks, possibly protecting against aneuploidy and resisting strand breaks, occurring upon exposure to radiation and certain anticancer chemotherapeutics. DDW is proposed here to link cancer prevention and treatment using natural ketogenic diets, low deuterium drinking water, as well as DDW production as the mitochondrial downstream mechanism of targeted anti-cancer drugs such as Avastin and Glivec. The role of (2)H in biology is a potential missing link to the elusive cancer puzzle seemingly correlated with cancer epidemiology in western populations as a result of excessive (2)H loading from processed carbohydrate intake in place of natural fat consumption.

    Background:Survival outcomes are still far from being satisfactory in patients with advanced gastric cancer, despite availability of novel chemotherapeutic regimens.

    Aim:This study evaluated the outcomes of patients with advanced gastric cancer who received chemotherapy along with additional treatment modalities targeting multiple tumor cell vulnerabilities.

    Materials and Methods:A total of 24 patients diagnosed with stage III-IV locally advanced or metastatic gastric adenocarcinoma that received metabolically supported chemotherapy (MSCT) combined with ketogenic diet, local hyperthermia, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) between April 2014 and October 2017 were included in this retrospective study. Survival outcomes were evaluated.

    Results:In 22 patients (88.0%), complete response was achieved. Mean duration of follow-up was 23.9± 12.7 months. Mean overall survival was 39.5 months (95% confidence interval [CI]: 28.1-51.0) and mean progression free survival was 36.5 months (95% CI: 25.7-47.2). No problems were encountered due to fasting, hypoglycemia, ketogenic diet, hyperthermia or HBOT.

    Conclusions:The combination treatment used in this study (MSCT together with a ketogenic diet, hyperthermia and HBOT) appears to be promising in the treatment of advanced gastric cancer. Further research and comparative clinical trials are warranted to support and standardize this novel treatment protocol.
