Sugary drinks and processed foods are bad for us, as we know—but they could be having even more of a damaging effect on our immune system than previous research had suggested.
The foods and drinks, which use fructose sweetener, trigger a series of responses that eventually damage our organs, leading to serious chronic health problems.
Processed food causes far more damage than just obesity and type 2 diabetes, as studies have shown. Researchers from the Francis Crick Institute in London have discovered that a fast-food diet causes our immune system to become inflamed, and this in turn will produce reactive molecules that damage organs, and eventually cause a complete breakdown of healthy body functioning. The result of all of this are chronic health problems.
Diabetes and obesity are just the early signals of a distressed immune system that is starting to become inflamed, the researchers say.
