Alzheimer’s origins are traced back to a bad diet

<a href=Alzheimer’s disease starts when the blood-brain barrier gets breached, and toxic proteins enter, breakthrough research has discovered—but the process begins with a poor diet.

The proteins that deposit in the brain are called beta-amyloids—and while this accumulation is characteristic of Alzheimer’s, nobody could figure out how they got there.

Researchers at Curtin University in Australia have discovered they are carried by fat-carrying particles called lipoproteins.

In mouse models, the researchers discovered that toxic proteins originate in the liver, which suggests the process that eventually leads to Alzheimer’s is started with a poor diet.
